My mother inlaw took her 1990 Lincoln continental to the "neighborhood mechanic" to be repaired. This jerk ended up doing all kindsa half assed work and didn't reconnect most things, including the speedometer. Now we have done most of the repairs properly but cannot find where to plug the speedometer back in or where the plug for it is located. Any help would be grealy appreciated.|||There is not a speedometer cable that goes through the firewall as Jim has suggested, your speedometer is electronic, he obviously has no clue about this concern.
Your speedometer gets an electronic signal from the speed sensor in your transmission, there is a wiring harness that is routed behind the cluster in your dash, and there is a plug that plugs into your cluster. Remove your cluster, and you will see a connector that is to be plugged into the cluster.
Make sure the sensor connector is plugged in at the transmission first, this one is the easiest to see, if it's plugged in, then check the one behing your cluster.
I have noticed that some people answer question that they have no clue about,,,sorry about that.
Good luck, Mark|||Under the hood thru the firewall girl
