How did southern states react to Lincoln's election as president?

What new nation did the states create?|||They ceded from the union and created the Confederacy.|||The South did not want Lincoln as president, and said so. When he was elected it didn't make them happy, so South Carolina seceded (or left/ broke off) from the Union. They started the CSA, Confederate States of America. President of this was Jefferson Davis.
