Why do people compare Obama with Lincoln when they are nothing like one another?

Abraham Lincoln was a Republican. Obama is a Democrat. Democratic views almost completely contradict Republican views.





People hated Lincoln. Half the nation left the union when Lincoln was elected. However, people love Obama.





The only similarities these two have with one another is that they came from the same state.|||Obama isn't the only person that liberals do this with. The idea is to steal someone else's thunder. The idea is to pass off the counterfeit for the real.|||I agree. All comparisons are odious.|||i think by comparing the 2 they are hoping obama also goes to the theatre.....|||Exactly what i have been thinking. It must be to do with the idea of change.|||1. The South dislikes both.


2. Both are ugly %26amp; skinny.


3. Both had or have crazy wives.


4. Half the nation has left the union.|||Obama and Lincoln are more alike than you might realize . Both men had little national political experience before being elected president. And the abolitionist, progressive Republican party and the pro-slavery Democrats have effectively switched places in the political spectrum -- ever since Nixon's Southern Strategy of 1968.|||It makes good press and press is what the OZ-bama machine is all about.





I think the only real similarity is that blacks adored and worshiped Lincoln as a liberator. Same with the OZ-bama image.





To say that half the nation left the union simply because Lincoln was elected is pure foolish. It had little to do with Lincoln the man. It was the politics of the time.





That they came from the same state is not a similarity.


Lincoln got to IL by chance.


Obama deliberately went to IL to start a political career.... to use the IL political mob to kick start the OZ-bama machine.|||He is the only one comparing him to Lincoln.
