Why did Lincoln leave Kentucky and move to the northern state of Illinois?

Was it because he was ashamed of being born a southerner with all its backward customs including slavery?

It's not Lincoln's fault he was born in the South. He made himself better by leaving it and then kicking its but. Gold bless!|||I am quite sure that Lincoln couldn't careless about slavery.

Btw, During the war Lincoln considered many times about allowing slavery to be legal if that would end the war.|||no but by the grace of god he is a southerner by birth.....his family chose to move north im sure he would have stayed where he was had he had the option and where he was born was technically the north then... kentucky was a border state split almost across in the civil war, i too am a kentuckian by birth..and i thank god for that ....|||Do you try to sound as ignorant as possible or is it a "gift?"|||Because he was 8 years old and his parents said "Load UP"
